Welcome Bonus in ₹: What Wagering and Turnover Mean
Welcome bonus banners are written to attract, not to explain. This is how to read them.
Two kinds of balance
- Cash balance: money you deposited or won.
- Bonus balance: promotional credit with conditions.
Wagering or turnover
A wagering requirement says you must play a total of a certain amount before bonus money is released. If the rule is 10x on a ₹100 bonus, you must play ₹1,000.
Expiry and caps
Bonuses often expire after a number of days, and may cap how much can be withdrawn.
Worked example
You deposit ₹200 and get ₹100 bonus. Terms: 10x bonus. You need ₹1,000 of play. If you stop at ₹600, your bonus stays locked.
“Up to ₹X”
“Up to” is the ceiling. Your credited amount may be much lower and tied to steps such as first deposit, KYC or daily logins.
Questions to ask
- How much is credited and when?
- What is the turnover?
- What is the expiry?
- Which games count?
- Is there a maximum withdrawal?
If the page does not answer, assume the terms are strict and deposit nothing. See UPI, KYC and Withdrawal Checklist Before You Deposit ₹ in Any Rummy App.
Where the bonus actually comes from
A welcome bonus is a marketing cost. An operator spends ₹100 to acquire a player who is expected to deposit and play far more. The conditions attached to the bonus are how the operator limits that cost. If you understand the conditions you understand the offer.
A more detailed worked example
You deposit ₹500 and receive a 100% bonus of ₹500. The terms say bonus money is released after you play 15 times the bonus, so ₹7,500 of wagering. Only certain games count at 100%, others at 20%. The bonus expires in seven days. You play ₹3,000 across two days at the full rate and the rest at the lower rate. By day seven you have a balance of ₹900 but the bonus portion is cancelled because the turnover was not met. You can withdraw only what remains of cash, not the full ₹900. Each condition was in the terms; none was in the headline.
Terms to find before you accept
- Is the bonus automatic or optional?
- Multiple of deposit, bonus or both for turnover.
- Which games contribute and at what percentage.
- Expiry in days.
- Maximum bonus conversion or withdrawal cap.
- Whether withdrawing before meeting turnover cancels the bonus.
If you cannot find these, assume the terms are strict.
Refer-and-earn: the same logic, with people attached
Referral rewards are another acquisition cost. You are usually paid when a friend deposits or plays a certain amount, sometimes as a share of their activity. The risks are social as well as financial: you may be blamed if your friend loses money, terms can change after you invite people, rewards can be bonus-locked, and mass invitations can breach the terms and cause blocks. Never invite minors, never promise income, and avoid recommending an app you cannot vouch for. Promotion of these apps can also carry legal and platform limits; see Local Rules & Age Limits for Real-Money Apps: Plain Notes.
When to skip the bonus
If the turnover is heavy, the expiry short or the terms vague, skipping the bonus can make withdrawals simpler. Ask whether you can opt out before depositing. See UPI, KYC and Withdrawal Checklist Before You Deposit ₹ in Any Rummy App for withdrawal planning.
Comparing two offers properly
Offer A: ₹1,000 bonus with 30x turnover on the bonus, seven days. Offer B: ₹300 bonus with 5x turnover, thirty days. Offer A needs ₹30,000 of play; Offer B needs ₹1,500. The “bigger” bonus is far harder to turn into withdrawable cash. When you compare, divide the turnover by the bonus and by the days available to get the effort required per day. Choose the offer whose requirement you could realistically meet within your weekly limit, or none at all.
Red flags in bonus wording
Phrases such as “up to”, “selected users” and “subject to change” give the operator wide freedom. A bonus that requires a deposit larger than your limit, requires inviting friends or pushes you to play specific games is a signal to slow down. The same goes for countdown timers that urge you to claim “now”.
A pre-deposit checklist you can copy
Before you deposit, write down on paper: the bonus amount, the turnover multiple, the deadline, the games that count, the withdrawal cap and the minimum withdrawal. Compare them with your weekly limit. If the total play required is more than your limit allows, decline the bonus or choose a smaller deposit. Take a screenshot of the terms on the day, because promotions change and a dated image is useful if there is a dispute later. If the app does not let you decline a bonus, consider whether it is worth using at all.
Frequently asked questions
Is a bigger bonus better?
Not if the conditions are harder. Compare the turnover multiple and expiry, not just the headline.
Can I skip the bonus?
Sometimes yes, and it can make withdrawals simpler.
Can I live on referral income?
Do not plan on it. Rewards depend on other people’s deposits and can change at any time.
